I carry a juki card along with my license and my zairyuu card, because my license has my old name on the front and my kanji printed in tiny characters on the back and my zairyuu card doesn’t have my kanji at all. My juki card has both. This is important because every other freaking legal document I have is in kanji, including my health and pension stuff, my employment contract, the GA3's registration is only in my kanji, etc etc. So I need my juki card as a photo ID with my kanji up front and center or else I run into legal issues. My DL won’t be replaced for like five more years, so it’ll be a long time before I have kanji on the front of it.

And I see that they’re not the only place you can use them. Found an image on Google showing a whole bunch of them...some of them I don’t know the name of because I (unfortunately) can’t translate Japanese to English.
But, I did see FamilyMart, Kirin (which I assume means their vending machines), Nippon Rent-A-Car, Autobacs, Book Off, and Lotteria included.

A bunch of receipts, my glasses prescription (because I just got a new one), some spare change, Walgreens and CVS rewards cards, my Ford ID card (just has my VIN and model info), health insurance card, debit cards, license, library card, random business cards from sources, and a pair of earrings, I think. Maybe also a CF card, unless I've taken it out and forgotten about it. #PhotogLyfe.

American Express Corporate Card

Left Side: Hilton Amex, United Visa, Citi MasterCard from college. The combined limit for the 3 is over 100k, but I’ve never carried a balance over so it’s kind of irrelevant.
Right Side: Navy Fed ATM, CAC, Drivers License, Stupid grocery member card (hate hate hate those things...horribly consumer unfriendly)
Zipper pocket: business cards, metro pass, car insurance, health insurance, concealed carry
Sometimes I have cash in the cash pocket, but I usually don’t have any on me; leave some hidden in the car, at the office, and at home just in case.

It’s useful for other reasons too, especially if you don’t have another form of ID. You do, and you don’t use kanji, so not as useful for you. But it helps you get city documents much more quickly, and you can use it in situations where you don't want your legal status known. But it's mostly to facilitate the use of kanji by those whose passports do not include kanji.

I have a Kostanza Wallet. Not going to post all the contents. My three CCs are from BankOfAmerica, total credit line of about $xx,000... And about a dozen loyalty cards of various types, one debit card, a few $$ cash, and I admit to being a receipt saver. Also, enhanced driver’s license, insurance card, and some other random shit... AAA card... Um? There’s other stuff in there too, but I try not to look to hard.

Yeah, makes sense. When I was going overseas a lot I usually only carried the citicard and cash for the same reason.
Then they cheated everyone on the currency rates. I got like 20 grand back by the time that got all sorted. Good times.
Last six years I’ve only been to Europe twice and I haven’t been to Asia since like 2007 or something so no worrying about that stuff for the time being.

Ohio driver’s license with a horrible picture, debit card, CCC access card (with my last name misspelled, naturally), one of those slick Chase Sapphire cards, and a Metrocard. I don’t think there’s actually been any cash in it for a good 5 years.

1) the Sailor Moon T-card is just a point card without the credit card or debit function. I almost always use the SoftBank visa due to that. I just have the SM card because it looks cool.
2) I don’t blog for a living. I’ve built up a savings and contributed to my Roth IRA via blogging. But I’m a full time JHS teacher.
